Craig Smith,, Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North West Leicestershire, recently met with Andrew Large, Chairman of Ashby RFC, to discuss plans for bolstering support for the club and enhancing sporting facilities in Ashby.
During the meeting, Craig reiterated their commitment to leveraging the power of sports in fostering opportunities for children and promoting physical and mental well-being. Recognising the vital role that grassroots sports play in the community, Craig pledged to work closely with Ashby RFC and other local clubs to support their growth and prosperity.
"Sport is a vastly underutilised tool in levelling up children's opportunities and teaching them essential life skills," said Craig. “Working with NWLDC Cllr Kenny Horn, I am determined to do whatever it takes to support Ashby RFC and other sporting initiatives in our community."
In a jovial remark, Craig reminisced about their past encounters with Ashby RFC, having played against them as a member of another local team, years ago.
Craig remains committed to championing the interests of Ashby and ensuring that the community's sporting infrastructure receives the attention and support it deserves.
