So as you know Mantle lane has been closed for the last couple of weeks (Back open Tuesday) whilst the new "Custom made" decorative railings are being installed....

I thought I would take advantage of the road closure
I drafted in the help of local company JB Tool & Plant Hire LTD who very kindly offered equipment and manpower to clean the walls of the bridge, not one to shy away from a morning of hard graft I rolled my sleeves up and wore a very ill fitting hi-viz jacket and mucked in......
The result was well worth it, whilst not "gleaming" (only a full restoration would do that) we did manage to clean 50 years of grime off and it looks so much better.
Massive thank you to Paul, Andy and the whole JB team, you've done your community a huge service
