This week I was sent to London as part of my Children and Families Cabinet support role, to attend the launch event of the SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) & AP (Alternative Provision) reforms programme. The packed event attended by stakeholders from all across England was an opportunity to share best practice and kick start the Change Programme Partnerships (CPPs) during set-up phase. It was great to see so many education experts in the same room, including Minister David Johnson MP and Susan Acland-Hood, the permanent secretary to the DfE, all working towards our common goal of improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The energy and commitment in the room was fantastic and I really look forward to getting the programme underway here in Leicestershire.
